Manufactured by the New Haven Arms Co. in 1863. The receiver, upper tang and buttplate heel feature a New Haven Arms factory engraving with large scrolls and floral sprays on a punch dot background and double line scalloped borders. The left side plate features an engraved panel scene of a stag leaping over a fence. Similar patterns are found in Chapter 1 to R.L. Wilson's "Winchester Engraving." This style of engraving is believed to have been executed by Samuel Hodgson who did most of the factory engraving for the New Haven Arms Company. Front and rear barrel sights and lever catch are absent. A ladder rear sight graduate to 900 yards is mounted on the top of the receiver. The buttstock is an attractive modern replacement. Matching serial numbers are on the barrel, left side of the lower tang, and buttplate.
