The makers previously confirmed that this pair was completed in 1850 as double percussion shotguns for Augustus Pechell, Lord Royston and was subsequently converted to pinfire by them. With browned damascus barrels signed “BOSS & Co. 73 St. JAMES’S STREET. LONDON” on the ribs. Scroll engraved action and locks, the latter each signed “BOSS & CO.” Well-figured 13 5/8" walnut stocks with checkered grip and forearm. Numbered “1” and "2" repsectively.
