Manufactured in 1876 (faint serial number). Spurious carving "THIS GUN WAS IN/CUSTER LAST FIGT [sic]/(illegible) 1876" on the right of the buttstock and spurious carving "AND CARRIED BY C M KEECHIS/AS SCOUT AND GUARD IN MONTANA 1879 (illegible)" on the left of the buttstock.
