Description:

Colt Single Action Army revolvers with the double action long flute cylinders are rare as Colt only assembled 1,478 total in 1913-1915 utilizing surplus cylinders from the Model 1878 revolvers per Graham, Kopec, and Moore on page 156 of "A Study of the Colt Single Action Army Revolver". Matching serial numbers are on the frame, trigger guard, and butt. The factory letter confirms this revolver was in .45 caliber with a 7 1/2 inch barrel, blue finish, and long flute cylinder when it was sold to H.E. Leslie (address unavailable) and shipped to George Worthington Hardware Co. in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 21, 1914. It was the only gun of this type in the shipment. Provenance: The Charles Marx Collection

Rating Definition:

Very good with some of the original finish remaining, refinished cylinder, smooth gray and brown patina on the balance, mild wear, small chips on the grips, a bulged barrel, and series of dings on the butt. Mechanically fine.
