Desirable King Ranch Branded, Inscribed Savage Model 1899H Lever Action Takedown Rifle in .22 Savage Hi-Power with Factory Letter and Documentation

Manufactured in 1912. The barrel appears to be a 24 inch factory replacement. "E.W. FELSCHER" is marked on left side of the receiver with each letter crossed out and "B. RENOLDS." marked below. The King Ranch brand is marked on the left side of the stock, and a Pachmayr recoil pad is installed. The factory letter states that the rifle was original chambered in .22 Savage High Power with a 20 inch barrel when received at the warehouse on 26 March 1912 and shipped to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. of Chicago the following day. Additional included documentation provides information on the King Ranch and Edward William Felscher who died at the Gulf Coast Hospital in Baytown, Texas, on September 15, 1968, at the age of 76 and is identified as born in Brenham, Texas. An obituary in "The Baytown Sun" indicated he had been living at Crosby, operated Felscher's Park on the San Jacinto River, worked as a maintenance engineer for Anderson-Clayton Compress Co. and was a veteran of the Rainbow Division in WWI. Emails indicate the consignor found the rifle in a gun shop in Ft. Worth, Texas, and "Ed. W. Felscher did indeed work on the King Ranch either shortly before or shortly after World War I....His daughter recognized the brand on the stock of the gun....It is the running rattler."

ConditionFine, with most of the blue finish on the factory replacement barrel, otherwise mostly grey patina, some light surface spotting/pitting, and a hairline crack, minor chipping, and minor handling marks on the wood. Mechanically excellent.
