Description:

A desirable example of the approximately 3,700 revolvers manufactured by Samuel Griswold in his Griswoldville, Georgia, factory between 1862 and 1864. The revolver has a distinctive brass frame and dragoon type barrel with faceted barrel lug contour. The serial number is stamped on the right side of the frame and the right side of the barrel lug, and a secondary number "15" is stamped on the trigger guard. The cylinder number is obfuscated. A cryptic "DD" is marked on the brass components. The grip and some screws are replacements.

Rating Definition:

Good, with a mixture of artificially applied black and brown patinas, attractive artificially aged brass, mild pitting scattered throughout along with minor dings. The replacement grip is slightly undersized and has minor dings. Mechanically fine.
