Manufactured c. early 1900s, this rare 20-Shot flatside cone hammer Mauser Model 1896 Broomhandle pistol is part of a small batch in their own approximate 1-90 serial range reportedly believed to have been intended for sales to South and Central America. The top of the barrel extension is marked "WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF A/N" in three lines. The serial number "82" is marked on the rear of the frame, hammer, firing pin retainer, underside of the rear sight ladder, and on some internal components. This pistol has early features including the cone hammer, the long extractor on top of the breech bolt, the first style safety lever that is pulled down to engage, tangent rear graduated from 1-10 (100-1,000 meters), one-lug firing pin and "20-shot" frame forging.
