Exceptional Colt Model 1861 Navy Percussion Revolver

This revolver was manufactured in 1863 and is one of only an estimated 38,843 manufactured between 1861-1873, compared to 200,500 Model 1860 Army revolvers manufactured between 1860-1873. It has a German silver blade front sight, the one-line New York address, "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side of the frame, "36 CAL" on the left side of the trigger guard, and a smooth one-piece walnut grip. All matching visible serial numbers marked on the barrel, frame, cylinder, cylinder pin, trigger guard, back strap, and handwritten in black ink in the rear mortise of the grip. Provenance: The Mike Simens Collection; Property of a Gentleman

ConditionExceptionally fine, retains 75% plus original high polish blue finish on the barrel with some patches of brown patina/surface pitting on the balance, mostly smooth brown patina on the cylinder along with a distinct roll scene and some patches of original blue finish, retains all of its original cylinder safety pins, 90% plus vibrant original case colors overall, 75% plus original silver plated finish on the trigger guard/grip straps, and sharp markings and edges in the metal overall. The grip is excellent with some scattered small minor dings and scratches, minor edge wear, and most of the original varnish. Mechanically excellent. This exceptional Colt Model 1861 Navy would make an excellent addition to any Colt collection.
