Rock Island Auction Company is privileged and honored to offer this extremely rare fully transferable Fabrique Nationale U.S. M240B belt fed machine gun; an iconic U.S. military machine gun that is in widespread active military service today. Reportedly, there are as few as only 11 fully transferable FN M240 machine guns in the registry, making this an incredibly rare opportunity to acquire one. Otherwise, there are approximately 17 pre-86 dealer samples, and the remainder are government property and will never be released to the public for sale. We cannot stress enough how rare of an opportunity this is to be able to acquire one! M240 is the official U.S. military designation for the FN MAG family of belt fed gas operated medium machine guns. This rare transferable example is marked on the left of the receiver with "U.S. M240B/MACHINE GUN 7.62MM" above the serial number and FN Columbia, South Carolina maker marking. The U.S. Marine Corps had previously adopted the M240G variant in 1991 for infantry use, with the M240B variant, commonly referred to as the M240 "Bravo," officially adopted by the U.S. Army in an infantry role in the mid 1990s and intended as a replacement for M60 series of machine guns, although it is still used alongside a limited amount of them in the present day. The M240B has some improvements over the M240G, including a dust cover over the ejection port, heat shielding hand guard, a hydraulic buffer system, a non-adjustable gas plug with a single rate of fire of approximately 750 rpm, and an integrated feed cover with a Picatinny rail that allows for optic mounting. Also features a blade front sight and folding ladder rear sight, folding bipod, lower handguard with Picatinny rail sections on either side, quick change barrel, synthetic checkered grip panels and synthetic buttstock.
Excellent, retains 99% original phosphate finish and most of the original Teflon finish with some light surface flaking on the feed cover and pistol grip, and a few light handling marks on top of the barrel. The hand guards, grips and stock are also excellent with a few light handling marks. Mechanically excellent. This U.S. M240 "Bravo" is one of the rarest fully transferable machine guns existent. This is an incredibly rare opportunity to own an icon! NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
