Description:

Manufactured by Auto-Ordnance for distribution by the American Historical Foundation, this is a post-WWII 1928 Thompson submachine gun, outfitted and decorated as a commemorative piece for World War II. Already a veteran of multiple conflicts and the rough streets of the American "Public Enemy" Era, the various models of Thompson were a signature weapon of the Allies in World War II, serving on every front of the conflict. Made as part of a limited run, AHF released 750 commemorative World War II Thompsons in total, with only 85 being automatic weapons achieving maximum possible fidelity to the original wartime pattern; the remainder were semi-automatic only with an extended barrel, less true to the original but without the burden of the National Firearms Act. Fine gold plated finish applied to the compensator, cocking knob, rear sight wings, trigger and sling swivels, a high polish blue on the barrel and receiver flats, matte blue curves, and fancy walnut furniture. The receiver markings are in the commemorative style, with commemorative badges inlaid into the right side of the pistol grip and both sides of the buttstock. The oiler is absent, otherwise internals are traditional 1928 pattern, with "QF" and a matching serial number hand scribed on the interior. Fitted with a brown leather sling. Included with the grouping is a glass-topped commemorative display case and related paperwork.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 97% plus custom blue finish, showing mild spotting on the stock rail and light handling marks overall. The wood is excellent, with some minor surface dings. The case is fine, with a replaced latch on the lid. The magazine catch interferes with the selector switch, otherwise mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
