This is a special configuration P220R pistol themed for the Fifth Special Forces Group, with a unique serial number range and slide markings. An included consignor letter attributes the pistol as a gift from a member of the group and relays details from the giver that it was one of at least 200 P220R pistols made by SIG Sauer in a special run for the Fifth Special Forces Group, to include a unique serial range starting with "5SFG." Features three-dot fixed front and rear sights with tritium inserts, dust cover mounted Picatinny rail, and serrated trigger guard and front strap. The Fifth Special Forces Group's coat of arms is laser engraved into the top of the slide with "DE OPPRESSO LIBER" and the group's nickname "THE LEGION" underneath. The right side of the frame is marked with the unique "5SFG" serial number and standard markings. Originally based out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, before being moved to Fort Campbell, Kentucky, under the command of the First Special Forces, The Fifth Special Forces Group was founded in 1961 and was extensively involved in operations during the Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, Iraq War, and Global War On Terror. Includes original SIG Sauer blue case, with end label marked "P220R, 45, SPECIAL CONFIGURATION" and dated "20-SEP-2007," and two extra magazines.
Excellent overall, with 99% original finish retained with a few minor handling marks and crisp laser engravings. Mechanically excellent. A scarce factory special configuration ordered in limited numbers by the members of Fifth Special Forces Group.
