"M. & D" above a circular "R(crown)M/Enfield" above "I./1" stamped on the right of the buttstock ahead of a circular brass disc unit stamped "QOCH/207" of the Queen's Own Canadian Hussars cavalry regiment. This unit's men were incorporated as volunteers into the Canadian Expeditionary Forces overseas, including the Canadian Mounted Rifles, during the Second Boer War (1899-1902). Features a 21 inch barrel with 5-groove Enfield pattern rifling, blade front sight with protective cavalry ears, ladder rear sight graduated 6-20 and fitted with an original leather sight cover, magazine cut-off, and detachable 6-round spring-loaded box magazine with connecting chain. Matching serial number "9746" marked on the receiver, barrel, rear sight ladder, and bolt.

ConditionFine, retains 70% faded original blue finish with smooth brown patina on the balance and some scattered light freckling. Leather rear sight cover is very good with some age related cracking and a few small tears on the edges. Stock is very fine with some light scratches and defined stampings. Mechanically excellent.
