Description:

Guns manufactured by Ivo Fabbri are among the best in the world, and this gun is no exception. Fabbri guns are built on a custom order basis only and have a wait list of up to five years, not surprising considering they only produce some 30 guns a year! This gun was built with blued barrels featuring a single bead sight on the matted flat vent rib which is marked at the base with a gold inlaid "1", "IVO FABBRI -BRESCIA-" and "VACUUM ARC REMELTING STEEL" marked on the left and right of the upper tube respectively, light line engraving around the breech and chamber, 1989 dated Italian proof marks, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are mated to a coin finished sidelock action which is adorned with beautiful floral scroll designs which extend to the toplever, both tangs, and the triggerguard and surround a trio of absolutely fabulous, beautifully executed game scenes cut by the hand of Italian Master Engraver Claudio Tomasoni who has signed his work on the triggerplate to the right of the triggerguard. The scenes consist of a flock of mallards in flight over a lake with a farm house in the background on the left, a flushed covey of quail in flight over a field with two having been hit by an unseen hunter on the right, and a pair of grouse on the underside fleeing the unseen hunter who has already bagged one of them. The gun features a single trigger, cocking indicators on either lockplate, and a tang mounted manual safety. The gun is mounted with a beautifully figured and multi-point checkered forend with matching engraved fittings and a gold inlaid "1" on the Anson style release as well as a pistol grip stock with a checkered bare butt. Included are two extra matching barrels sets both measuring 28 inches with their own matching forend and gold "2"s or "3"s in place of the "1"s, set "2" is 28 gauge with 2 3/4 inch chambers and set "3" is .410 bore with 3 inch chambers and modified/full chokes. Also included is a wood and leather takedown case that houses the entire set. Barrel measurements for the extra 28 gauge set (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech proofed at 14.0/14.1mm (.551/.555 inches) and measured .557/.557 inches; choke constriction .019/.035 inches; minimum wall thickness .029/.031 inches. Barrel and stock measurements (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech proofed at 16.0/16.1mm (.630/.634 inches) and measured .630/.631 inches; choke constriction .021/.035 inches; minimum wall thickness .029/.028 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 3/16 inch drop at heel; 14 3/8 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 6 lbs. 6 oz.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining 99% original blue finish, 95% plus original coin finish, some patches of oxidation on the action mainly on the right and underside, and minor handling evidence. The wood is excellent with sharp checkering Mechanically excellent. The extra barrel sets are excellent. The case is very fine. A great chance to skip a long wait and take home an exceptional Italian three barrel set!
