Manufactured in 1966 to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the Winchester Model 1866, these Winchester Model 94s were finished to look similar to the legendary "Yellow Boy". This pair, including a rifle and a carbine, have the standard Winchester and commemorative markings and features. These two Winchesters are mounted in an included display case, very similar to the case containing John Wayne's "True Grit" vest which we sold in our August 2024 Premier Firearms Auction, which measures approximately 23 1/4 x 53 1/2 x 3 inches, along with a plaque that they are from John Wayne's personal collection. Included with the lot are copies of a 1975 dated appraisal of John Wayne's personal gun collection carried out by The Grant Boys, which lists both of these Winchesters by serial number.
Excellent overall, retains 99% plus of the original blue finish, the brass mostly bright with some very light surface spotting/residue, and only the slightest handling evidence overall. Mechanically untested as cased. The display frame/case is also excellent with only the slightest handling/storage evidence.
See "A", in case with "A". Provenance: The John Wayne Collection; The Gary Hess Collection; Property of a Gentleman
