Imperial German DWM Model 1906 Altered First Issue Navy Semi-Automatic Luger with Kiel Shipyard Marking, Commercial Export Marking, Matching Shoulder Stock and Holster Rig

This is a desirable example of a pre-World War I era DWM Navy Model 1906 altered first issue Luger that has Kiel Shipyard marking "WK/687" located on the backstrap, as well as a "GERMANY" export marking on the bottom of the barrel, applied after it's German Navy service upon being sold commercially to the United States likely sometime in the 1920s. It is accompanied by its original matching numbered walnut Navy shoulder stock, along with an attached unmarked leather Navy type holster and suspension rig. One of approximately 8,000 Model 1906 Navy Lugers originally manufactured, these were the standard pre-World War I Navy Luger issued to the Imperial German Navy all the way through World War I and even into the Weimar era. The pistol features a 6 inch Navy barrel, two-position 100-200 meter Navy rear sight, and grip safety. The majority of these first issue Navy Lugers had their safety markings modified as seen on this example, with "GESICHERT" added in the top position from its original location in the lower position which has been milled off. The top of the chamber area is undated, and the standard "DWM" logo is marked on the front toggle. The underside of the barrel is marked with a "crown/M" Navy acceptance proof with a crown firing proof on the left. The left of the barrel extension has a crown firing proof followed by double "crown/M" Navy acceptance proofs. Crown proof mark also located on the breech block. Standard military style serial number placement with "5374" marked on the underside of the barrel and front of the frame. Various small parts have matching last two digits of the serial number, with unnumbered replacement grip panels and a correct replacement Navy type magazine with nickel plated body and walnut base with concentric circles numbered "5359" on bottom. The included board shoulder stock is marked with the pistols matching serial number "5374" on top of the attaching iron, with a small "crown/M" Navy acceptance stamp on the round iron stock disc.

ConditionVery fine as arsenal reworked, retains 90% blue and straw finishes with some minor edge wear, and sharp markings. Replacement grips are excellent with crisp checkering and minimal handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Stock and holster are fine with some scattered light scratches, aging, and a separated leather holster retention strap at the front. This is a desirable example of a DWM Model 1906 Luger with its Kiel Shipyard markings, commercial export markings, and a rare matching shoulder stock rig.
