Desirable Pre-World War II "S" Code Krieghoff Semi-Automatic Luger Pistol Rig with Two Matching Magazines, Krieghoff Proofed Holster and Service Belt

This is a solid representative example of a mid-production, pre-WWII Krieghoff "S" code Luger as manufactured in limited quantities for the Luftwaffe. This Luger is marked with the early "S" code over the chamber which was the secret code indicating manufacture in 1936. There were only about 4,000 "S" code Lugers produced during this year of manufacture. The specific pistol is a mid-production model with serial number "3261" that still retains the "S" code marking. It has the regular features such as the C-1 die marked toggle that has the "H" Krieghoff Anchor "K" with "KRIEGHOFF/SUHL" marked below that. The left point of the anchor nearly touches the letter "H" and the word "SUHL" is slightly off-set so that the "I" in Krieghoff is slightly ahead of the letter "S" in SUHL with the flat bottom on the letter "U". The right side of the barrel extension is marked with the early "LWaA" 1st-stage 1 early Luftwaffe acceptance proof followed by the Luftwaffe test proof and small "eagle/2" proof. The underside of the barrel is marked with only with the bore diameter and the early "eagle/2" acceptance proof. It has the typical military style serial number placement with the full serial number on the front frame and the left side of the barrel extension with the last two digits on the backside of the side plate, front and rear toggle assembly, trigger, and take down lever. The pistol is fitted with a set of original Krieghoff brown checkered plastic grips as manufactured by the Ritzmann firm. These grips are identified by their small fine checkered pattern with the smooth border around the edge of each grip panel. The back side of each grip panel has the correct mold numbers that consist of a small circled "HRS" for the Herman Ritzmann & Sohne company and number "8964" impressed into the plastic. The pistol is complete with two mid-production Krieghoff magazines that have the nickel plated magazine body with cast aluminum bases, with "HAENEL SCHMEISSER PATENT" on the right side of each magazine body. Both are correctly numbered "3261" on the bottom of the bases and both have a single "eagle/2" proof only backwards above the serial number. These Lugers have the distinctive Krieghoff high polish blue finish with the straw colored small parts. This Luger is complete with an early unmarked commercial military style black holster that has a single "eagle/2" proofmark on the inside against the back part of the holster, a takedown tool numbered "2911", aluminum "GOTT MIT UNS" belt buckle with traces of a hand-scratched marking on the back, and a black leather Kurt Seidel service belt with "1938" near the hook and a faint hand marking partially reading "Uffz. S" behind the tongue; Unteroffizer S is unidentified, but may have been the German trooper who was originally issued the belt.

ConditionExcellent with 90% plus of the original blue finish with wear, thinning and browning on the front and rear grip straps, and wear and blue loss on the edges and high spots overall such as the side plate hump, the front edges of the frame rails and the sides of the front sight base/barrel band. The smaller parts retain 75% of their original straw colors. The grips are also excellent showing only minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The holster is fine with some minor light scuffs in a few places and tight stitching, and the belt and buckle show wear appropriate to age and field use. A very nice mid-production "S" code Krieghoff Luger rig with two matching magazines.
