Called the "A La Mandrin" and known as the poor mans North & Cheney, this French Model 1777 flintlock pistol features a 7 1/2 inch smooth bore 75 caliber iron barrel made without sights, iron hammer, frizzen, spring, backstrap and trigger, brass frame with a 6 3/8 iron belt clip attached to the bottom just behind the trigger, brass trigger guard, flash pan and butt cap. Iron ram rod with a flared tip which fits at an angle into the right front of the frame. There is a "crown / A" proof mark on the frame just behind the flash pan and an "82" on the left rear of the barrel. No other markings are visible. Mounted with a one piece stock and no forearm. The North & Cheney Model 1799 was patterned after this pistol.
