Two Flintlock Pistols

A) Ketland Flintlock Pistol

Marked in script "Ketland / & Co" on the lock plate in front of the hammer, the top of the barrel is marked with two "crown / cross swords" proofs. The trigger, lock, barrel tang, hammer, frizzen, pan and spring are iron, the remaining parts are brass. Complete with iron ramrod with brass tip.

ConditionGood with the metal surfaces exhibiting a mottled gray patina. The brass has a smooth dark aged patina. The markings are clear. The wood is very good with some minor scratches and nicks. There is a large shallow chip on the left side near the muzzle. The hammer is a little loos, otherwise the action is good. From the Will Hoffeld Collection, purchased from Betty Cryst in 1988..
