Two Antique French Military Pistols

A) French Model 1822 Percussion Conversion Pistol

French Model 1822 Pistol martially converted to percussion ignition in 1854. Stacked bead front and fixed rear sights on the barrel and tang, with dates and other stampings. Charleville markings on the lock plate, with cleanly plugged screw holes and pan area. Brass fittings, with the connected barrel band and reverse plate and buttcap with lanyard ring. Smooth stock, with 1854 date and faint markings on the left side behind the reverse plate.

ConditionRefinished, with a mixed brown and gray patina on the barrel and lock, with some minor scratches and dings. A notch is visible on the barrel band, with a fine aged patina and mild dents. Stock is revarnished, with light pressure dents. Action is very good.

B) French Military Flintlock Pistol

St. Etienne production. Made without sights, marked "B" on the barrel, "Mle AII9" on the upper tang, faint St. Etienne markings on lock plate, "crown/ P" proofs on several parts, replacement ramrod, brass fittings and smooth grip.

ConditionFair as reconverted to flintlock, with scattered pitting and rust on the metal parts. A mixed patina is visible on the brass parts. Stock is fair, with chipping around the lock and butt, scattered pressure dents and scratches. Action is good.
