Description:

This is a much sought after transitional Colt Baby Dragoon/Model 1849 Pocket revolver that was manufactured in 1850 in the overlapping Baby Dragoon/1849 Pocket serial number range. While it is not known how many of these transitional models exist, the 1849 Pocket was introduced in 1850 around serial number 12000. The main difference between this variation and the standard Baby Dragoon is the use of rectangular cylinder stops which Colt patented on September 10, 1850. Wedge is unnumbered, "2" marked on loading lever, cylinder appears to be renumbered to match, otherwise visible numbers match. With a partitioned case (appears modern) containing lead rounds, powder flask, "COLTS/PATENT" marked brass bullet mold, and case key.

Rating Definition:

Fair overall with mixed gray patina, pitting, strong original silver plating remaining on the grip straps. Mechanically needs work as cylinder does not always rotate when action is cycled. Case is fine.
