Manufactured by Simeon North of Middletown, Connecticut, for the U.S. Government circa 1817 to 1820. The lock plate is marked with the early style markings "S NORTH" in a downward curve over an eagle motif with "U" and "S" at either side over "MIDLn CON" in an upward curve. The left rear side of the barrel is stamped "P/US", small letter inspector markings are stamped on most of the components and a clear cartouche is stamped on the left stock flat. With a swelled tip hickory ramrod.
Very good. The pistol has a smooth dark patina with 20% original brown finish remaining. There is moderate flash type pitting and some minor spotting. The stock is very good with sharp flats and cartouche, cracked mid-wrist area near the side plate, a series of minor pressure dents on the left flat and handling marks overall. Mechanically fine.
