Exceptional Cased Factory Engraved and Inscribed Smith & Wesson Number 1 1/2 2nd Issue Single Action Revolver with Ivory Grips

Manufactured between 1868 to 1875. The sides of the barrel, cylinder flats, frame sides and back strap are decorated with floral scroll and punch dot engraving. The back strap is inscribed with the name "H.H. Patten." The top of the barrel rib is marked with the one line address and patent dates. The serial number is marked on the butt and the matching assembly number "63" is marked on the rear cylinder face and back of the barrel lug. The inside of each grip panel is marked in pencil "84138". Blade front and notch rear sights, all nickel finish with casehardened hammer and fitted with smooth ivory grips. Comes in an original pine bottomed mahogany case with red felt lining. In the case is a key and an original 50 count box of UMC 32 caliber short No. 2 cartridges.

ConditionExcellent. The revolver retains 95% original nickel finish with some scattered minor flaking. Most of the original muted case colors remain on the hammer. The grips are very fine. The right panel has turned brown, and the left panel has a mellow patina and attractive grain. The engraving and markings are crisp and clear. The action is fine. The case is very good with a minor crack on the bottom, and overall some minor dings and scratches on the exterior. The lining is good with minimal contact wear and some mild soiling. The cartridge box is very good with the whole lid label intact and most of the seal. The edges show moderate wear.
