U.S. Civil War Spencer Saddle Ring Carbine

Manufactured from 1863 to 1865, the Spencer Carbine was one of the most popular firearms used by the Union forces in the Civil War. It has a blade front sight, folding ladder rear sight graduated out to 800 yards and a saddle ring bar with ring. The top of the receiver has the Spencer address and patent marking, and the serial number is on the upper rear. It is fitted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a single barrel band, two script cartouches on the left side of the wrist and a sling swivel on the buttstock.

ConditionGood. The carbine displays an untouched brown patina with speckled pitting overall. The wood is very good with faint, but legible cartouches, some chips including larger ones at the junction with the front and rear of the action, several small dings, a slight crack in the forearm, and minor scratches. Mechanically fine with partially obscured markings.
