Pair of Philadelphia Deringer Percussion Pistols

A) Philadelphia Deringer Pistol

This pair of Deringer pistols has the typical Henry Deringer style markings of: a sunburst "P" on the left side of the breeches and "DERINGER PHILADELA" on the top of the breech and lock plate. The barrels have simulated Damascus patterns and short brass front sights. The rear sights are small notches on the breech. The back action lock plate, upper tang, and German silver furniture have scroll engraving patterns. The trigger guard finish is similar to the pattern used from 1845-1848. Each pistol has an initial shield with an emblem resembling the Masonic square and compass with the numbers "1" and "2" respectively.

ConditionVery good. The barrel has faded brown finish and visible metalwork patterns. The lock and hammer have a gray patina, and the German silver furniture has lightly aged. There are some patches of light pitting mostly confined to the barrel. The grip is fine with crisp checkering, a small repair, some slight cracks and a small amount of material absent near the upper tang on the right. The action is excellent, and the marking and engraving patterns are crisp.
