Austro-Hungary's first magazine rifle, the 1885 Mannlicher used an early form of the en-bloc clip loading, but unlike later designs this clip would be ejected from the top of the receiver instead of dropped out of the magazine. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights, with "Wn 85" on top of the chamber, "CE/WG" on the receiver ring, and the clip retention lever on the right side of the magazine. Smooth pistol grip stock with sling swivels, forearm grasping grooves and a smooth buttplate.
