This is an excellent example of a very desirable original Colt Firearms Division commercially manufactured, fully automatic M16A1 rifle. These original Colt fully automatic M16 series rifles are very desirable as they were produced exactly as their military counterpart using the same military grade, factory original parts. To keep them separate and distinct from the military weapons, they were given their own special commercial serial number designation in the 9 million serial number range. This example was produced as a later Colt M16A1 series rifle with the forward assist on the right side of the upper receiver, the two-position flip rear sight, and an original M16A1 Colt marked bolt and bolt carrier group. The barrel is also correctly marked "C MP CHROME BORE". It is fitted with the M16A1 style buttstock, pistol grip, and handguards. It has an original Colt M16A1 type lower receiver that is correctly marked with the circled Rampant Colt over "COLT/M16A1/CAL. 5.56 MM/9602956" and the rear area marked "COLT FIREARMS DIVISION/COLT INDUSTRIES/HARTFORD CONN./U.S.A.". The selector switch area has the correct "SAFE/SEMI/AUTO" markings. This excellent rifle is complete with a "US/ M7" marked bayonet with no scabbard, one 20 round and two thirty round magazines, and a black nylon sling.
