Description:

Manufactured in 1874. In addition to the standard markings the upper left front of the receiver is marked with a "B" inside of a shield (origin unknown, but most likely a retailer mark). From the upper left corner of the shield to below the bottom right is struck with a single line. The top of the barrel is marked with the two-line address/King's improvement patent dates, (very faint). The lower tang is marked with the serial number. Blade front sight integral with the barrel band and folding two leaf rear sight. There is a saddle ring and staple attached to the left rear of the receiver. Blue barrel and magazine tube, nickel plated receiver, hammer, lever and buttplate. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate with compartment, (cleaning rod not included).

Rating Definition:

Fine. The receiver retains 80% of the retailer applied nickel finish with a dark aged patina on the exposed brass. The barrel and magazine tube have weak address with a smooth mottled artificial gray patina overall. Much of the nickel finish remains on the hammer, lever and buttplate. The wood has been freshened with a coat of varnish some time ago and remains very good with scattered minor dents, dings and scratches. The action is excellent.
