Description:

This is an exceptional example of a WWII General Motors Guide Lamp Division M3 SMG. These weapons were developed circa 1941-1942 as a wartime substitute for the Thompson M1928 SMGs due to their lower time of manufacture and cost. The majority of these weapons were converted to the "A1" configuration after 1944; however, this example remains in its mostly all original configuration, with the cocking handle on the right side and original combination safety/dust cover. It has the fixed front and rear sights on top of the receiver. The left side of the magazine well is marked "SUB-MACH GUN/CAL. 45 M3" over the Guide Lamp marking and "Crossed Cannon/ U S NO 337731". The underside of the trigger guard bow and the trigger housing cover both have Guide Lamp part markings of "B-301456-4 / BGR-GL" and "G.L. C153432" respectively. The underside of the trigger housing is hand painted with "T/O/E" and rack number "(9)". It has a telescoping wire stock and comes with one original 30 round stick magazine and an original M9 flash hider made by L.F.C.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% plus of the original gray parkerized finish remaining overall with the balance having turned a dark brown patina with finish loss on the edges and high spots to include the pistol grip area. NOTE: This item is restricted as a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
