This is a beautiful example of a professionally upgraded and highly embellished Winchester Model 1876. The rifle features a medium weight, 28-inch half round/half octagon barrel and button magazine. It has a rust blued type metal finish, and the receiver, hammer, loading lever, grip cap and forend tip have professionally applied color casehardened type finish. The receiver, both side plates, top, underside and hammer have been beautiful engraved with a masterfully applied scroll engraving with a geometric border pattern and a double game scene on each side of the receiver/side plates. The left side depicts a mule and white-tail deer, and on the right side it depicts a pronghorn antelope and a buffalo; all four are shown in appropriate woodland scenes. The top tang has been engraved "-WINCHESTER 1876-". The rear area of the lower tang has been engraved "TR07", and the front end of the tang been engraved in extremely small letters "J. ULRICH/T. McARDLE". The top barrel flat is roll-stamped in two lines: "WINCHESTER'S-REPEATING-ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT./KING'S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29. 1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860" ahead of the rear sight. The barrel has a half nickel sporting front sight with a "FREUND" marked folding rear sight. The cartridge elevator on the underside of the action is engraved "45-75". It has the third model style frame with integral dust cover rail. It is fitted with a deluxe extra fancy checkered walnut pistol grip stock and forend. The stock has a diminutive low-profile cheekpiece with a double shadow line and a color casehardened grip cap on the pistol grip. The buttstock is fitted with a checkered and lightly engraved steel shotgun type buttplate. The sides of the pistol grip and forend are both beautifully adorned with a fine-line, hand checkered pattern, and the right side of the stock has been fitted with a oval brass disc that has been engraved with a grizzly bear.

Very fine as custom embellished with 99% of the professionally applied blue and color casehardened finishes. The stock and forend are also in exceptional condition showing a wonderful hand rubbed varnished finish with only some very minor handling mark on the top and sides of the stock. Mechanically fine. This is just a spectacular example of a current custom upgraded/embellished Winchester Model 1876 rifle.
