Manufactured in 1890 and subsequently totally refurbished/upgraded. It has a pinned blade front sight, a folding ladder rear sight , a barrel with the two-line address ahead of the rear sight and "45-70" at the breech, a saddle ring mounted on the left side of the frame, "-MODEL 1886-" on the upper tang and two-line patent date marking followed by the serial number on the lower tang. The highly figured wood features checkering, an ebony insert on the grip cap and a crescent buttplate. The left side of the lower tang is marked "2089 XX," and the number "2089" is repeated on the upper tang stock cut-out. The barrel, magazine and bolt are blue, and the remaining surfaces are casehardened.

Very fine as professionally upgraded to current configuration/restored. The carbine retains 99% of the blue finish and case colors showing a few minor handling marks. The wood shows only the slightest handling marks and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
