This excellent Winchester Deluxe Model 1892 Fancy Sporting Rifle was manufactured in 1907. This rifle has a deluxe, fancy grade, highly figured walnut pistol grip stock and forearm with a high polish piano finish and factory "Style H" checkering. The pistol grip has a hard rubber cap embossed "WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO." The rifle has a 24-inch round barrel with full length magazine. The barrel has a Lyman "Express" or "Jack" front sight with colored bead and buckhorn sporting rear sight with screw-adjustable center-piece. A Lyman folding combination rear sight with locking button is mounted on the receiver tang. The stock has a steel, checkered shotgun buttplate. The barrel, magazine, forearm cap, bolt, receiver, loading gate, trigger, hammer and crescent buttplate are blued. The lever is color casehardened. The left side of the barrel is roll-stamped: "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO./ NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A. PATENTED OCTOBER 14. 1884." in two lines ahead of the rear sight. The caliber designation "38 W.C.F." is roll-stamped on the left side of the barrel just ahead of the receiver. Oval Winchester "W/P" proofmarks are stamped on the top of the barrel and receiver. The serial number is roll-stamped across the bottom of the receiver.

Excellent. The barrel and magazine have nearly 98% the original blue finish with crisp markings. The forearm cap has 90% of the blue finish with some thinning on the right side. The receiver retains 95% of the original blue finish with some very minor edge wear. The right side of the receiver has several minor handling marks. The left side has a number of very fine scratches with some scattered surface discoloration. The bolt has 97% of the blue finish intact with some fading on the extractor. 95% of the blue finish is present on the loading gate, hammer and trigger. The steel buttplate has a dark brown patina with some light pitting on the heel and toe. The loading lever retains about 90% of the case colors with some silvering on the bottom of the lever. The highly figured, fancy grade walnut stock and forearm remain in excellent condition and retain more than 90% of the high polish piano finish. The checkering on the forearm and pistol grip is sharp. Wear on the stock and forearm is limited to a few minor scratches and scuff marks. This is an excellent example of a rare Winchester Deluxe Model 1892 Fancy Sporting Rifle.
