Scarce Class III/NFA Fully Automatic Fully Transferable Czech Model 23 Submachine Gun

This is an early post-WWII Czechoslovakian Model 23 submachine as reactivated by the Joe Petty company prior to the 1986 import ban. This model was developed shortly after WWII and was used by the Czech Army until they were overtaken by Russia. It as comprised of mostly stamped sheet metal type parts that are welded together with a heavy machined telescoping bolt and barrel. They came in two different version: the Model 25 with a simple folding wire stock and this example, the Model 23 with the fixed wooden stock. They are fitted with a red bakelite forestock and pistol grip panels with the slap sided wooden stock. This example was deactivated by having the front end of the receiver tube cut off and was reactivated by welding the original front end back on to the receiver and registering it with the BATF by the Joe Petty Company, NC. It also has a new manufactured barrel still in the white. The rear of the receiver is stamped: "JOE PETTY/STANLEY NC/JP01/JP8873". It has an all black painted exterior finish and comes with one original 30 round Czech stick magazine.

ConditionVery good as reactivated with 80% refurbished black painted finish overall with wear and flaking on the top exposed section of the receiver. The bakelite components and wooden stock are all fine showing handling marks and light field use overall. This could easily be improved by a simple strip and cerakote/repaint job that would dramatically improve its looks. The weapon hand cycles correctly. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
