Manufactured by Ford, Kaiser and AM General Corp. in the 1960s, the M151A1 Jeep was used extensively during the Vietnam War for multiple purposes and was well liked by the troops. This example has a rare P170 mine detector. Landmines and booby traps were a leading cause of American casualties during the Vietnam War, and the minesweeper Jeep was intended to detect IEDs and landmines buried in front of the vehicle to help clear roads. Purportedly, this is one of two Jeeps in this configuration known to exist. The Jeep has an August 1968 delivery date, straight 4 cylinder gas engine, and U.S. Army paint scheme.
