Outstanding Winchester Model 1885 Low Wall Single Shot Rifle with Factory Letter

Manufactured in 1898. The accompanying 1974 dated factory letter confirms the 28 inch octagon no. 1 barrel in .32 WCF and plain trigger and states it was assembled on December 10, 1898. Blade and elevation adjustable sights are fitted on a barrel marked with the two-line address and "32 WCF" on the top flat, and mounted on a smooth Schnabel forearm with ebony tip insert and straight grip buttstock with crescent buttplate. The lower tang is marked with the patent date and serial number. The '85 was the first Winchester firearm based on a John Moses Browning patent, was widely successful, and was offered in a wide range of variations and calibers.

ConditionExcellent overall, retaining 99% plus of the original blue and casehardened finish showing minimal handling evidence throughout. A high condition Model 1885 that will be a welcome addition to any Winchester collection!
