Desirable World War II U.S. Irwin-Pedersen Manufactured M1 Carbine

Fine example of a scarce Irwin-Pedersen manufactured M1 Carbine, that was manufactured in the second contract block of serial numbers (3,212,520-3,250,019). This block was later reassigned to the Saginaw Steering Gear Division of General Motors after the Irwin-Pedersen contract was canceled for unsatisfactory performance. The receiver ring has the standard M1 Carbine markings with the rear stamped: "IRWIN-PEDERSEN/3212895". The barrel is marked "UNDERWOOD/3-43" above the ordnance '"shell & flame" insignia. It has a mix of early and late parts such as an "AI" stamped Type III barrel band late stamped, adjustable rear sight, stamped "IRCO" on the side, a flat "IO" marked Inland bolt, Inland marked trigger group, with an "AOB" marked slide. It is fitted with a low wood walnut stock that is stamped LW in the sling slot, with a boxed "BA/JPL" rebuild cartouche on the left side and a circled "P" proof on the flat of the pistol grip. It is fitted with an early two rivet, unmarked handguard. It comes with a reproduction green canvas sling and a 15-round "BW" marked magazine. The triggerguard bow has a small yellow sticker identifying it as being checked at the M1 Carbine matches at Camp Perry.

ConditionFine as rebuilt with 90% of the arsenal refurbished parkerized finish with edge and high spot wear overall with finish loss on front end of the barrel the top and side of the receiver and top areas of the bolt. The stock and handguard are both in very fine condition showing only minor handling marks with nice clear cartouches and proofs.
