Fine Engraved and Silver Accented Pair of John Campbell All-Metal Scottish Flintlock Belt Pistols

A) Campbell Flintlock Pistol

These pistols by John Campbell were manufactured c. 1750-1775 in Doune, Scotland and have his signature on the locks. The rest of the pistols are primarily covered in scrollwork engraving. The engraving is accented by silver inlays on the back straps, silver side plates on the wrists, and silver balls on the triggers and vent picks. They have the standard belt hooks on the left sides and sculpted ramrods. Some accounts state that Major Pitcairn fired one of these distinctive Scottish flintlock pistols at the beginning of the Battle of Lexington & Concord at the beginning of the American War for Independence.
