Luftwaffe Fallschirmjaeger Camouflage Helmet Cover

Designed for use with the Model 1938 "Fallschirmhelm", this cover is of single sided twill construction, with a "splittermuster" camouflage exterior and a plain green interior. A set of metal hooks (4 out of 6 still present) are installed around the edge, stitched into a herringbone twill reinforcing band, and the exterior is fitted with a set of HBT bands (one long one around the diameter, and a short cross on the crown) for mounting local foliage. A faint ink stamp, which includes the number "68", is present inside the crown. Per the consignor, the item is formerly from the George Petersen Collection, who in turn acquired it in the 1970s in Germany from a Fallschirmjaeger veteran.

ConditionGood. The cover shows a number of small tears and holes, along with some light stains and wear. A larger tear is present in the crown, which has been given a hand-stitched repair; while not documented, this could have been a field repair during the period of use.
