Smith & Wesson New Model No. 3 "Long Strap" Single Action Target Revolver

Introduced in 1878, this target variation is cut for a shoulder stock and has the 1 9'16 inch "long" cylinder. "44 S&W CTG" is marked on left side of the scarce 6 inch barrel. Caliber marked New Model No. 3's are rarely encountered. Due to the stock cut out, the butt has only a partial serial number visible. The cylinder, barrel and barrel latch are numbered to the gun. ConditionFine, retaining 60% original blue finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance. 30% original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger guard. The grips are also fine with dings on the bottoms and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. A scarce "Long Strap" New model No. 3. A one-of-a-kind Smith & Wesson well worthy of addition to any collection!
