Excellent U.S. World War II Auto-Ordnance M1 Thompson Submachine Gun, Class III/NFA C&R Fully Transferable Machine Gun, with Accessories

Developed in 1942, the U.S. M1 Thompson was a streamlined version of the classic Thompson SMG, intended to simplify the weapon and speed the manufacturing process. While frills were trimmed, the M1 was still a classic "heavy metal" SMG, constructed from machined steel with fine hardwood furniture. Blade front and fixed peep rear sights, with a straight forearm under the smooth barrel, "FJA" and "GEC" inspection marks on the frame along with the address markings and model nomenclature, ribbed pistol grip and a fixed buttstock. The original serial number "167903" is present on the receiver and trigger guard, with the registration number "IRS 3407" on the left side of the receiver. The bolt is the simplified M1 design, with the Blish lock eliminated and the cocking knob moved to the side, but still retaining the articulated firing pin. A number of accessories are included, with a black leatherette transport case, two extra stick magazines in a leather belt pouch, a Seymore "L" type 50-round drum magazine, two canvas magazine pouches (1 for stick, 1 for drum), a canvas SMG case, a hardwood display stand and assorted periodicals with articles on the Thompson.

ConditionExcellent, with 95% plus of the original combination parkerized/blue finish, showing areas of brown patina, mild handling marks and edge wear. Some shallow pitting is present on the rear sight and the rear of the barrel. The stock is very fine, with mild dents and stains. The accessories are in good order. The disconnector mechanism needs adjustment; the item currently does not operate in semi-automatic, but is otherwise mechanically in fine order. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
