Per the included December 21, 1990 letter from Smith & Wesson Factory Historian Roy Jinks, addressed to country music icon Hank William Jr., this revolver is the "finest Smith & Wesson could assemble and is first of its kind produced by the S&W Performance Center", using a then-current production frame and specially selected cylinder with an original 1958 production new-old stock barrel that was custom lead-lapped for this special project revolver. The letter also states that the action was tuned by John French, the engraving and case were done by Paul Piquette, and the grips were made by K. Dennis Holland. The sideplate is engraved "HANK" with masterfully applied floral scroll accents above and below. This revolver was ordered by Williams' wife Mary Jane for Christmas 1990 and bears the special serial number "RHW001" (birth name Randall Hank Williams). Along with the letter comes a certificate of authenticity confirming Williams' ownership, original factory box, and the aforementioned S&W hardwood display case. Provenance: The Hank Williams Jr.'s Collection
Excellent overall, retaining 99% plus original S&W special high bright blue finish, limited handling evidence, and faint cylinder drag lines. The case is very fine with some lid separation and minor storage marks. Mechanically excellent.
