Description:

The included factory letter lists this rifle as having a 24 inch barrel chambered in 40/60 when shipped from the factory on July 7, 1890. Third Style featuring the two line address/patent date marking ending with "REISSUE NOV. 9. 1880". "40 CAL" is stamped on the top barrel flat at the breech. It is fitted with German silver blade and elevation adjustable buckhorn sights. Mounted on a straight grain smooth forearm and straight grip stock. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection

Rating Definition:

Fine, retaining 50% original blue finish on the barrel and magazine with the balance thinning to brown. The receiver retains 60% original blue finish with the balance a gray patina, some pitting on the left side, and light pitting on the upper tang. Wood is fine with an added layer of varnish, scattered dings and scratches, and some staining around the upper tang. Mechanically excellent.
