Documented Early Production Two Digit Serial Number 66 Winchester Model 21 Double Barrel Shotgun

Likely manufactured in 1931, the first year of production. Blued Winchester Proof Steel barrels with a single bead sight on the matted concave solid rib, chokes marked "MOD"/"FULL", and chambers marked 2 3/4 inches with a single extractor. The blued action is unadorned and features a set of double triggers and a tang mounted automatic safety switch. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend and pistol grip stock with Winchester buttplate. This early gun is pictured on page 562 of George Madis' "The Winchester Book" and is mentioned by serial number. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .731/.732 inches; choke constriction .010/.034 inches; minimum wall thickness .030/.033 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/2 inch drop at heel; 14 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 4 oz.

ConditionExcellent, retaining 97% plus original blue finish with slight oxidation on the lower tang and minor handling evidence on the balance. The wood is very fine with a few scratches and ding and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
