Outstanding Merwin Hulbert & Co., Fourth Model Double Action Revolver with Deluxe Hartley & Graham Factory Case and Matching Extra Barrel

This outstanding nickel plated 4th Model Merwin Hulbert revolver has a casehardened trigger guard, trigger, and hammer with folding spur and lanyard loop on the butt. The grips are black checkered hard rubber. The revolver has an extra matching 3 1/2 inch barrel and is complete with a deluxe, satin lined Morocco leather case with Hartley & Graham label. The serial number is located on the butt, barrel, and the cylinder. All of the serial numbers match. The extra barrel is also numbered to the gun. The top of the barrel rib is marked: "MERWIN HULBERT & CO. NEW YORK U.S.A./PAT.APR.17.77 JUNE 15.80 MAR.14.82 JAN.9.83" in two lines. The left side of the frame is marked: "CALIBRE/WINCHESTER 1873" in two lines below the cylinder. The left side of the extra barrel is marked: "HOPKINS & ALLEN MFG.CO. NORWICH, CONN. U.S.A./PAT. APR.17. 77 JUNE 15.80 MAR. 14. 82 JAN. 9. 93" in two lines. The case is lined with scarlet satin and has a black leather interior label with gold print that reads: "HARTLEY & GRAHAM/UNITED STATES OF AMERICA/AGENTS/COLT PATENT MANUFACTURING FIREARMS COMPANY". The case exterior is black Morocco leather with plated hinges and latch. Provenance: The Tom Selleck Collection

ConditionExcellent plus. The revolver appears to be unfired and retains 99% of the original nickel-plated finish. Finish wear is limited to three very minor areas of flaking on the lower right side of the frame and some minor flaking at the edges of the grip on the back strap. The extra barrel has nearly all of the original finish. The trigger guard, trigger, and hammer have 99% of the vivid case colors. The black, checkered, hard rubber, grips are mint. Markings are crisp. The case is in good condition. The satin lining is excellent; the lining is not faded and is generally free of grease stains or compression marks. Wear is limited to a small tear from the revolvers front sight. The leather interior label is in very fine condition. The Morocco leather case cover shows moderate wear with numerous exterior scuff marks and some tears at the edges. The bottom of the case is loose. This is an outstanding, near mint, example of a matching numbered Merwin Hulbert DA revolver with rare deluxe Hartley & Graham case.
