This absolutely beautiful piece of American craftsmanship was built in 1903 and shows off some of the best quality of the day. Blued steel barrels with a matted solid rib with doll's head extension, "KRUPP." and "FLUID. STEEL." marked on the right and left barrels respectively, small wedges of scroll engraving at either breech, relief cut leaf motifs on the underside of either breech, and chambers measured at 2 3/4 inches with automatic ejectors. The casehardened sideplated boxlock action displays beautifully carved fences with shell motifs and highly detailed scroll and game scene engraving with a panel scene on either sideplate as well as the underside. The left sideplate shows a pair of pointers, the right has a pair of setters on point, and the underside displays a set of mallards with one in flight and the other on the water. The gun features gold plated double triggers and a tang mounted automatic safety switch with another wonderfully engraved setter on the triggerguard. Exceptionally well figured, fancy multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and straight grip stock with teardrop flats, gold inscription shield, and a red rubber recoil pad.
