The lock is dated "1859" behind the hammer and stamped "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" below the bolster. The Maynard tape primer compartment lid is stamped with the Springfield Eagle and Shield motif. Smooth straight stock, with brass tip, tulip head ramrod, 3 "U" marked barrel bands, sling swivels, two letter cartouche on left side and "US" on the buttplate heel. With a "US" marked 18 inch triangular spike bayonet.
